Weymouth Cruiser Rally Report

The CSC Cruisers set sail for last week for their annual visit to Weymouth for the Bank Holiday Weekend. There were 29 boats booked and we were rafted up to 5 abreast as usual.

Arrivals took place over the 4-day period from Wednesday to Saturday and we enjoyed beautiful sunny weather for the whole time. The forecast NE wind did not always keep true (sometimes SW!) but most had a good sail there, but on the return, we had good breezy winds for a time, then they dropped to as low as 2.1 knots and eventually picked up again.

Our renowned Pontoon Parties with drinks, canapes and nibbles took place on both Friday and Saturday evenings and on Saturday 57 of us sat down to an excellent evening meal at "The Ship Inn" on the Harbourside. It was a great evening, judging by the animated conversation and happy faces.

During the rest days, crews visited various parts of Weymouth and a good number walked the Rodwell trail, stopping at the beautiful Sandsfoot Gardens and Castle, overlooking Portland Harbour, for refreshments and the views.

Due to the forecast of strong winds up to force 7 from the NE on Monday, we left Weymouth on Sunday, some stopping off in Poole, others going on to Lymington and the remainder returning to Christchurch. Estrella left Weymouth for Guernsey and Imagine had a great voyage to Dartmouth in record time.

My thanks to all those members who came and made the weekend so enjoyable.
