Bottom Towed Fishing Gear Consultation

CSC is represented on the Studland Bay Marine Partership and has been informed of a consultation concerning the Southern IFCA byelaw consultation that affects Studland Bay in respect of Fishing Areas and the Prohibition of Bottom towed Gear. The areas we will be most interested in are Studland and Poole Bay together with Poole Harbour.

The proposal is to prohibit bottom towed gear in all of the Studland Bay MCZ, not just the seagrass area, and extends to cover an area of seagrass on the Training Bank, that is outside of the MCZ.

The consultation is open until 1 August supportive responses will be welcome, particularly in view of the VNAZ areas currently being designated for no anchoring.
