The sailing programme is now fully up and running - the scows have started their Wednesday capers, 13 ladies went out in lovely conditions for their first ladies sailing evening, 50 Pirates and Freestyle sailors turned up for the first Friday night session of the 2019 season, and although Storm Hannah kept them off the water, the Pirates had their dinghies checked and then practiced land drill ashore, whilst Freestyle had their dinghies checked and then practiced rigging. Hugh reports it was great to see everybody - more again this coming Friday! .......Saturday's dinghy racing was cancelled due to high winds, but a healthy 13 boats competed on Sunday with Ray New taking line honours.
29 Cruisers are booked to attend this weekends Bank Holiday Cruiser Rally to Cowes and then Yarmouth....some still in shakedown, others already shaken!
Away from CSC, the Dendle family represented the club at the Northampton SC RS Tera Start of the Season Championships. Saturday was blown out, with Sunday's races leaving Amelia in 4th place in the Regatta fleet, with a 1st and 2nd place out of a string of consistent results. Fantastic work!
Francesca New had a good weekend training at Torquay last weekend, despite there being a bit too much breeze on Saturday. Next weekend she heads off the the RYA Eric Twiname Championship at Rutland for which she was selected as part of the RYA South West Zone Squad. She is looking forward to racing against all the other UK Zone Squads and with the forecast looking good, we keep our fingers crossed for 3 days of great racing...
Enjoy your sailing over the Bank Holiday weekend!
