On The Water
Another busy sailing week both home and away. Our juniors -Drew is out at the World Laser Radial championships in Canada and currently going well in the top 30 of a 160 strong field- more to follow. Francesca is competing in Weymouth in the British National Championships in her optimist- good luck to both as early racing continues.
Our seniors have had a cracking time sailing out of Yarmouth on Sonatas in the Tattinger 2019 Regatta- congratulations to Owen Kerr on Phoebe finishing 4th in his class and to Luke Rideout, Andy Rushworth and Jon Arnell. Also crew on Blu V, Fiddlers Elbow and Marmite respectively. I understand the support crews did a good job seeing off the fizz too….!! Very good turnouts for the long race on Sunday with 6 boats and the Evening Tankard on Monday with 12 boats competing. A big well done to Carumba for winning both races.
On home waters in the scow fleet the Elbow trophy was won by Graham Fairbrass and the evening series by Stuart Percival- a clean sweep for him.
The ladies had 12 racing on 6 different dinghy types in a very breezy but very tight race- another fantastic sail all round.
Christchurch cruisers continue to be out and about both racing and cruising home and abroad and class 4 and 5 club racing is being excellently run and competed in.
Keep your sailing news coming in- it shows what a diverse club we are across all areas!
